"Hello, world!"

Lucy Elizabeth Quertinmont, born on April 1st 2010, at 6:11 pm
7 lbs 11 ozs, 21 inches.
Welcome, little one! After many weeks of anticipation and psyching myself out, Lucy arrived almost painfree and very quickly. Much quicker and easier than I expected! After months of reading and hearing horror stories about long labors, crazy happenings, and what not, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.
We left for the hospital at 7 am. I was pretty nervous, so I didn't get much sleep the night before. The doctor broke my water at 8 am, and I was started on pitocin. I didn't last more than an hour before I asked for an epidural, since I was having pretty bad back labor. Lets just say, I was feeling pretty amazing after I got that! :)

We watched a movie and some tv, and I slept off and on all day, and around 5:30pm the doctor came and told me it was time to push. I was totally not prepared for that! 1/2 hour later, Lucy was here! I couldn't believe how perfect she was when I first saw her. I was expecting some deformed looking little alien, but ended up with a perfectly pink, round headed little angel, who looked a whole heck of a lot like me.

The doctor, nurses, and all the other hospital staff were so amazing and helpful. It was one of the most pleasant experiences of my life!

We love her so much- yes, more than the cat- and I have trouble not staring at her all the time. Josh is a very attentive, excellent, protective Dad. I've only had to change 1 diaper since she was born, because he wants to do it. I say, have at it! :) We were in the hospital for 48 hours, and came home Saturday night. Sleeping that night was pretty much out of the question, but we are learning. I know things will get easier eventually, but until then, we are having fun learning how to be parents.

  3. Congratulatoins! I'm glad everything went well. Enjoy the peace and quiet of having only one and take advantage of being able to not only sleep while she sleeps, but hold her while you sleep!
