"Susie Homemaker"

Things have been non-stop since I got back to Utah. And by things, I mean, me! I can't seem to stop doing things around the house, and finding new projects to do to make our place look nicer.

I never considered myself a crafty person, ever. In fact, I avoided crafts at all costs. But these past few weeks have brought out a whole different side of me. I learned that.. I LOVE TO SEW! While I may not be amazing at it like my sister, Katie, it is still fun to make things and makes me feel accomplished. I finally learned how to use a sewing machine without hating it, thanks to my mother-in-law, Diana. She was kind enough to let me take over her craft room every day. :)
I finally got the baby's room finished, with the exception of putting up a shelf for some vintage dolls/stuffed animals.
This is also our guest room, so anyone who comes to visit
gets to take care of the baby.. heh heh.. kidding.. i think..

This quilt started out as a baby blanket, but ended up to fit a twin size bed!
I now have the wonderful pregnancy carpal tunnel from making it, BUT... it was totally worth it!

I made everything here except the yellow comforter. The curtains are my favorite! You can't tell, but they have tiny little pink "swiss" dots on them, (I think that's what they're called.)

The crib is really nice and converts eventually into a twin bed. I also love the vintage looking changing table, (and the sleeping, warm, furry body on it.) I found the plates above the crib at the DI, of all places. They were perfect with yellow/pink flowers on them.

Here is the vintage duck bumper pad my mom found. So cute! I have a vintage dresser that I put in her closet, which is now full of clothes, thanks to generous gifts from the baby shower, both Grandmas, and cousin Claire, who will be a year older than her. This chick is set for life as far as clothes go!

After all that hard work, blood, sweat, tears, and near labor, Moe and I were both pooped. :) My "nesting" urge has about come to an end, as have my energy levels. I'm now working on freezer meals, and also finishing my 5 season marathon of the Office. Other than that though, my hospital bag is packed and ready to go!

I owe a BIG thanks to my family, my in-laws, and all the other wise women in my life who have donated items and gifts, time, and lots and lots of advice to help me out. Its really nice to have such a big support system. Thanks!!!

  1. That is a very cute room. Watch out those plates don't fall on that baby;-) Seriously though, they might.
